Default Zune or Zen?

Im thinking of getting a zune or zen since im tired of owning a ipod and i just have a question. Since I know you have to use zune's own program to put music on your Zune can you put music thats already on your computer onto the zune or do you have to buy it all?

any ideas which you think is better, Zune or Zen?

PS: Please tell about bugs and other problems you have encounter, a pros and cons list would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Well, when Zune first came out i downloaded the theme and the player, just to test it. (i don't actually own a zune). I deleted it shortly thereafter, as it mucked up my music library, turning it into more of an image folder. But, you might be able to sync your music to your zune with WMP11, as you can sync just about everything that counts as a removable disc using it. Well anyway, that's my not-very-proffesional view on things, but it might help. (might)

I have had both and both are nice. I must say the zune is a better player. The sound is great and the video is excellent. You can load up your own mp3s from file share to it with no problems. I dont know about songs downloaded from Ipod though. Funny thing is I was happy with the zen also but it was run over by a car (long story). Dont quote me on this but I think the zune has a longer battery life also. All I needed to buy after getting the zune was an AC power adapter because it doesnt come with one. Im not always on the pc so charging with the usb cable isin't always an option. Hope this helps.

I've got a Zen.

**Good bits**

Sound quality is good (goes loud)

Good bass

Treble is fine

Well made, will survive day to day drops etc

**Bad bits**

Battery life starts to suffer after a while, I've had mine a year or so now and battery barely lasts a few hours.

Need to buy decent headphones.

Touchpad takes getting use to.

Can be prone to the odd random freeze (just take the battery out, works for me)

Note: You will want to set your own EQ, the preset one's suck.

Whilst not as stylish as th Ipod it's a far superior MP3 player.

Yeah i have a Zune myself and its a very nice mp3, totally worth the money. Seems that zune batterylife is no where near the 12-14 hours (or whatever) it was stated to have though.. i think i will run a test soon to see its real battery life, my brother has one to so i can see the difference between two of them aswell.

Edit: Well if you turn off the wireless after sending it takes up less battery-life, but one of the things i heard about is that the AM/FM radio was bugged and eating up craploads of battery life and they were supposed to roll out a fix for it sometime.. but don't take my word for that it was only something i heard about a few times.

I got a Zune and I love it!
though its really hard to fill up all that space >_<

The big widescreen is sooo freaking awesome for watching movies and stuff, and being able to hold tons of pictures and customized backgrounds rocks.

but yah the battery life sucks and it eats up a lot when you send songs to other people

My iPod shuffle just died. I am now without portable music, ie VERY EDGY...

I shall mostly be replacing it with a Zen Micro when I can afford it. But yes, not happy...

EDIT: As a one time iPod owner, my recomendation is to never be an iPod owner. My shuffle was always prone to memory dropping, not to mention you have to use that program (iTunes *shudder*)
